How to add local files to Spotify using PC/Mac

Note: On Windows and Mac, Spotify performs a scan of all music folders as soon as you install the app. However, if your audio files are scattered in different folders, it is unlikely that Spotify will find them all.

1. Open the Spotify desktop app (Windows/Mac) and click on your profile.

2. After clicking on the Profile tab, hit the settings icon in the drop-down menu.

3. Under settings, scroll down till you see the local files option.

4. Now turn on the Local files option.

5. Once turned on, click add source button and choose the destination folder of the local music file (music sources).

Sync local music files using Android Smartphone

As mentioned before, you cannot import local files on your smartphone, but if you add it via PC, it will automatically sync it to your Android phone if you are connected to the same WiFi network.

1. To access audio files on your Android smartphone, you will still need to add local files from your PC first.

2. After adding local files from the PC, install Spotify from the Google play store on your android device.

3. Now, open Spotify and log in with the same account you logged in on your PC. (Make sure PC and smartphone are  connected to the same WiFi network)

4. Once done, look out for the playlist you just created and hit the download icon. It will download and store it locally on your smartphone.

Sync Spotify local music using iPhone or iPad

The process on an iOS device is similar to an Android device but with a few additional steps. Let us have a look at it below.

1. Add all the local files to Spotify via PC by following the steps shared above.

2. Once done, download and install Spotify on your IOS device using the App Store.

3. Log in using the same account you used on your PC. (Make sure PC and smartphone are  connected to the same WiFi network)
