1. Google’s Own Custom Chipset – Tensor

The Pixel 6 Series will feature the all-new Tensor chipset, developed in-house by Google. The chip has been in engineering for almost four years as per Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai and is based on over two decades of Google’s expertise in AI and ML. The chipset will also feature a Security Core called Titan M2 for the most advanced layers of hardware security on a smartphone.

With Tensor, Google is aiming more at AI functions and offering an immersive camera experience. The AI processing is done locally on the chip and not on the cloud.. This not just benefits in more speed but also offers much better privacy to users. The AI Engine in Tensor will help in scenarios such as fast-moving objects, where the chipset will make use of its algorithms to convert blurry parts of the image shaper and make it look more appealing. The device will make use of multiple lenses at the same time, and run both images through the AI Engine and combine them for a better-looking image.

2. 4 Times Optical Zoom

The Pixel 6 Pro will have three cameras, including a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. The regular Pixel 6 will have the same cameras as the Pro model, but without the telephoto lens. The exact details of the primary camera sensor are still behind the curtain, and it’s something to keep an eye out for during launch. Or maybe Google can tease us further about the same.

3. Three New Pixel 6 Color Combinations

The Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, will offer three color combinations, which slightly differ between the models. The Pixel 6 will get a Matte Black, Pale Green, and a Peach color finish. The Pixel 6 Pro will come in Matte Black, Golden, and a White finish. The color schemes look really refreshing and the design, right from the leaked renders have developed a keen interest in users about the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro.

4. Better Speech Recognition

The newer Tensor chip holds the potential for a host of AI and ML features, and Google says the Pixel 6 series will offer a completely redefined experience for users in Speech Recognition, voice commands, translation, captioning, dictation, and more. One of the key features to highlight is ‘Live Translation of Captions’ which is again done at a local level on the device itself using the Tensor chip. Speech recognition in real-time is all set to get even better, and will also improve grammatical errors in a better way.

5. Material UI Redesign

The Pixel 6 series will run the latest version of Android 12, which is available as a preview on some existing Pixel devices. From what we have seen in the beta versions (previews), the new Android UI focuses heavily on Material Design, and Google has highlighted this new UI with its latest Android release. We will soon see the full release of this Android version with the launch of the Pixel 6 series.

6. Unified Experience Throughout

The newer UI not just brings a refreshing feel with its design, but also integrates and binds various sections in Android. Changing the wallpaper will reflect changes in the color accents of widgets, and menus in a way that they match with the wallpaper. The newer chipset utilizes its AI capabilities to find the perfect colors with respect to the selected wallpaper. These changes can be seen in real-time.

So what do you think about the Google Pixel 6 Series? With the hype building around AI and given the track record of Google with their magical software powers as seen in Google Camera, is the Pixel 6 Series going to set whole new standards for smartphone cameras? The newer chipset is something everyone is eyeing right now, including us. The Google Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro are expected to launch around October, which is the usual time for Google to announce their Pixel devices annually.
