However, to be used for any of those purposes, Notion offers two ways: you can either use one of the default Notion templates that match your needs or start with a blank canvas and add elements yourself. We have already covered the second approach in our detailed guide (here). So in this guide, we will stick to the best Notion templates you can use for different purposes to boost your productivity.

Best Notion Templates

Notion offers a wide collection of templates for various use-case scenarios. Using these templates, you can quickly set up a wireframe for what you want to build, be it personal wikis, task lists, planners, databases, or anything else, after which you can substitute your data for the entries in the template. Thus, reducing your time spent setting up the canvas.

Notion offers two kinds of templates: built-in templates and user-generated templates. We’ll list the best of both in this list.

1. Quick Note

Quick Note is a simple Notion template to create rich-text notes. You can use it to jot down your notes quickly or create a to-do list. The template also lets you embed links, so you can add sources for reference. And similarly, you can create sub-pages inside a page as well to collate similar pages together.

2. Journal

As the name suggests, Journal allows you to document your life so you can make entries for all the daily happenings, reflections on your goals, and special occasions to ponder upon later. You can list your entries broadly into two categories: daily and personal, and can even categorize them by tags to make them easier to find. Speaking of which, you can use the sort option to filter entries by different properties. And if required, the template even lets you create your own properties to add personalized context.

If you like planning out things beforehand to avoid last-minute hassles and stay on top of your daily tasks, you can use the Task List template on Notion to make a note of all your to-dos. The template presents you with a board with three different categories of tasks: To Do, Doing, and Done. You can add your to-do tasks in the To-Do section, and as you progress, modify their status to the other two options over time. Additionally, you can also click on any of your tasks to add additional context or subtasks.

It has a view for each of these media types, and you can even change your views to sort the listed content by different filters like status, author, type, rating, etc. One of the more useful features in this template is that you can also use Notion web clipper to save pages and links directly to your list.

9. Resonance Calendar

Resonance Calendar is a fairly new concept that involves building a second brain for yourself to store all the information that resonates with you so that you can revisit it periodically. On Notion, you can do this using the Resonance Calendar template to make a record of all of the books you read, anecdotes from blogs you like, videos you watch, and podcasts and audiobooks you listen to, among other things. The template presents all of these entries in a table, which you can use in its current form or customize based on your requirements. Resonance Calendar is one of the best Notion templates for students, who can benefit greatly from this method and keep track of all the information they consume and the thoughts and ideas they come across in a day.

10. Dashboard

The Dashboard Notion template aligns well with the literal definition of the word. It allows you to bring information from multiple sources, such as notes, to-dos, agendas, projects, calendars, etc., together onto a single page — one that sits on top of your sidebar. That way, you can get a glimpse of what’s important and upcoming without having to visit different pages individually. The template already contains important elements, so all you have to do is replace the entries with your own and link them to your pages.
