Microsoft finally released Windows 11 to the public on 5th October. However, Windows 11 beta has been around for quite some time now for those who are part of the Windows Insider program.

Many users installed the latest desktop operating system on their PCs to experience the revamped UI with a centered taskbar, new animations, and more. But, as it is an insider build, there are some bugs, and the battery life has also taken a hit.

windows 11 to stable switch

Due to these issues, a lot of users want to shift to Windows 11 stable from the insider build. So today, we are going to do just that to help you switch to the public release build with ease.

And do you know what the best part is? The process also works on unsupported PCs running on an Insider preview build.

Prerequisites

  • An active internet connection
  • At least 5GB free disk space
  • More than 50% charge

Method 1: Officially Supported PCs

This method works only on PCs that meet minimum Windows 11 hardware requirements and requires a complete data wipe if you are running the latest insider preview build. You can check if your PC meets the minimum hardware requirements using the PC health check app.

However, if you are on an older build, you might be able to switch without wiping data but try it at your own risk.

  1. Download Windows 11 ISO
  2. Once downloaded, open the file manager and locate the file. Here, double-click on the downloaded ISO file.
  3. A new window will pop up with the ISO contents. Look for the setup file and double-click on it.
  4. Here, click on more info and choose Run Anyway.
  5. Now follow the on-screen instructions, and it will start performing a clean Windows 11 installation.
  6. During the process, you will see three options. As we are on the latest insider preview channel insider build, we do not have the keep data option. But if you are on the beta channel or an old insider channel, you might be able to choose the keep files option.
  7. Once selected, Hit next, and it will start installing Windows 11 on your PC.

Method 2: Unsupported PCs without TPM 2.0 support

This method is one of the easiest ways to switch from insider build to stable, and heck; it even works if you want to upgrade from Windows 10.

A modified CMD file enables us to do so, and we are thankful to the developers who made that possible. So what are we waiting for? Let’s have a detailed look.

  1. Download the Modified Media Creation Tool zip file and extract it.
  2. After extracting, run the “Media Creation Tool” bat file as an administrator.

  4. Once done, a CMD window will pop up; here, wait for few seconds, and a drop-down menu will appear.
  5. Do not get confused with the number of options and just double click on “11“.

During the installation process it might say Windows 10 but worry not as it will install latest Windows 11 version only.

Method 3: Unrolling device from the Windows Insider Program

If you are not running on the latest insider preview/beta channel build, you can try unrolling your PC from the Windows Insider Program and checking for updates. Let us have a look at how you can do just that.

  1. Open Windows settings and choose Windows Updates from the drop-down list.
  2. Now, click on “Windows Insider Program.”
  3. Here click on Stop getting preview builds.
  4. The unroll this device option will be toggled off by default; turn the option “ON and restart your PC.
  5. You should see the update now, but follow the other two methods we shared above if you do not see the update.
